Cowboys vs Eagles: Philadelphia has plenty of statistical success in their Week 9 win

Saquon Barkley already among Eagles elite with franchise milestone – Alexis Chassen, BleedingGreenNation.com

Saquon Barkley is already paying dividends for Philadelphia.

Everyone will continue talking about Saquon Barkley’s heroic reverse-hurdle against the Jaguars, but the RB had another reason to celebrate after the game on Sunday. After just a short time with the Eagles, Barkley has already cemented himself among the greats, hitting 1,000 total yards of offense in just eight games. The running back is only the third player in franchise history to hit that mark.

The only other Eagles players to achieve this feat are LeSean McCoy and Brian Westbrook, both of whom were in attendance for Barkley’s big day. Westbrook was at the kelly green game to help induct McCoy into the Eagles Hall of Fame, and they both got a glimpse of the heir to the rushing throne in Philly.

Barkley has been dominant ever since his first game as an Eagle, and has given the offense an identity. Lane Johnson told reporters that he and other offensive lineman told coaches during the bye week that they should be more of a rushing offense. With guys like A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, the Eagles have been pretty committed to the passing game, but Barkley added a whole other element and dimension to the group.

There’s still more than enough time for Barkley to hit 2,000 offensive yards this season, and to break countless other franchise records along the way.

In Roob’s Stats: What the Eagles did for the first time since 1950 – Reuben Frank, NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Eagles’ win over Jacksonville saw plenty of statistical history made.

The Eagles have done something over the last three weeks that they hadn’t done in 74 years.

And their linebackers did something they hadn’t done in 25 years.

And Jalen Hurts did something that only one other Eagles quarterback has ever done.

We’ve got stats. Oh yeah.

1. Saquon Barkley continues to put up mind-blowing numbers and he continues to do it in mind-blowing fashion. Let’s start with some Saquon stats:

1A. Barkley has rushed for 443 yards over the last three weeks, the most by an Eagle in any three-game span in 76 years. Late in the 1948 season, Steve Van Buren rushed for 143 yards in a win over the Giants at the Polo Grounds, 137 yards in a win over the Boston Yanks at Shibe Park and 171 vs. Washington, also at Shibe Park.

1B. Barkley now has 925 rushing yards, 1,071 scrimmage yards, eight touchdowns and a 5.9 rushing average. The only other players in NFL history to put up those numbers through eight games are Jim Brown in 1958 and 1963 and Adrian Peterson in 2007.

2. Let’s talk about the quarterback:

2A. Jalen Hurts’ passer ratings the last four games have been 126.1, 119.3, 132.5 and 132.3. He’s the first quarterback in Eagles history with four straight games over 119 and only the 13th in NFL history. Among the others are Kurt Warner, Aaron Rodgers, Jim Kelly, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes.

4. How about an insane linebacker stat?

In the second quarter Sunday, Zack Baun became the first Eagles linebacker with an interception in their last 49 games, since Alex Singleton picked off Mike Glennon in the Eagles’ 34-10 win over the Giants at the Linc. In the fourth quarter, Nakobe Dean became the second Eagles linebacker with an interception in their last 49 games, since Alex Singleton picked off Mike Glennon in the Eagles’ 34-10 win over the Giants at the Linc. This was the first time in 24 years the Eagles got two interceptions in the same game from linebackers. It happened in the 2000 season opener, the Pickle Juice Game, when Carlos Emmons and Jeremiah Trotter had interceptions in the Eagles’ 41-14 win at Texas Stadium. Trotter had a 27-yard pick-6 off Troy Aikman early in the second quarter and then Emmons picked off Randall Cunningham in the second quarter after Randall replaced Aikman (who was 0-for-5, sacked four times and threw a pick). The Eagles had gone 425 consecutive games without getting two INTs from their linebackers.

Eagles announce roster move ahead of Week 10 vs Cowboys – Kelsey Kramer, AtoZSports.com

Philly signed a player named Dallas ahead of playing Dallas.

The Philadelphia Eagles made some roster moves ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

The team released offensive lineman Braeden Daniels from the practice squad and filled that void by signing linebacker Dallas Gant.

Gant comes to Philly knowing a familiar face in Eagles’ first-round pick Quinyon Mitchell as the two played together at Toledo.

An Ohio native, Gant initially went undrafted out of Toledo following the 2024 NFL Draft and was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings where he spent the first half of the season on the practice squad before being waived last week.

Before entering the NFL, Gant played six seasons at the collegiate level, including four at Ohio State and two at Toledo. In his last two years as a Rocket, he earned back-to-back first-team All-MAC honors and led his team in tackles with 232, including 23.5 tackles for loss, one sack, an interception, seven pass breakups, and three forced fumbles.

The Eagles could be without linebacker Ben VanSumeren this week after he suffered a concussion in Week 9’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

That means Gant will provide extra emergency depth behind Nakobe Dean and Zach Baun as the Birds get ready to take on their biggest NFC East rival.
